Exactly, Han Yoojin has made himself into a threat because the narrative isn't kind enough to do it for him, and that man would do anything to protect his kids.
This also reminds me of what he says in chp 329 when Young Chaos asks Yoojin what his story is and his response is,
"I worked hard to survive." "I've been working hard to live."
Yoojin's entire life is about struggle, about fighting tooth and nail to provide the best for Yoohyun. He doesn't know how to do anything but survive, and S-classes will never quite understand the sheer desperation and determination of being on the cusp of falling your entire life.
The thing about Han Yoojin is...
I don't think he would be more dangerous if he were an S-Class. He is dangerous specifically because he is F-Class.
That's because all of Yoojin's abilities, as well as his behaviours, are a direct consequence of him being a lower rank hunter in a world made to favour higher ranks. Yoojin's strenght comes from his determination, his knowledge, and his anger towards those who oppress the weak and vulnerable.
Lacking physical strenght and strong magical powers, he started studying hard everything there was to know about Dungeons, and he became an incredible strategist. Unable to protect himself from the criminals who took advantage of lower class hunters - and a society that did close to nothing to protect those lower classes -, he became a skilled liar, a manipulator, and he learned how to kill his enemies after tricking then into lowering their guards. He became ruthless, because if he wasn't, he wouldn't have survived, or he would have had to give up on his goal to try and protect his younger brother.
If Yoojin had been an S-Class, Yoohyun wouldn't have had as strong a reason to push him away in order to protect him. Yoojin wouldn't need to lie, manipulate, steal as much, because most things he could possibly want would simply be handed to him.
Even imagining a Yoojin that is both powerful AND as clever and ruthless as he is.... well, he'd be like Sung Hyunje. And even amazing Sung Hyunje is not as determined or imaginative as F-Class hunter Han Yoojin is.

The S-Classes that I Raised often gets grouped with Omniscent Reader's Viewpoint and Trash of the Count's Family, but there's something distinctly different about Han Yoojin as a protagonist. I think it's that his story really makes you feel how much of a fighter he is. I'm not saying that Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo aren't fighters exactly, but they tend to come off as schemers first and foremost. Their approach to most problems (from my perspective as someone who's read all of ORV and like a third of TCF) involves leveraging secrets of the world that only they know in order to get the better of their adversaries and achieve their goals. They plan things out a long time in advance, and sure, things don't always go their way, but they feel like chess players when they're confronted with obstacles.
Meanwhile, Han Yoojin feels like a guerilla soldier. He definitely also schemes, but SCTIR makes a dedicated effort to showing that his current knowledge of the future and the world's secrets will only take him so far. He does think ahead and plans for the future whenever he can, but most of his problems are solved by improvising. One of his greatest strengths is that he thinks on his feet and doesn't let himself be fazed by surprises. This ends up making him feel more like someone who has always had to fight desperately for every last scrap of respect and survival he could get his hands on in a way that ORV and TCF don't go for as much (as far as I can tell for TCF as of now). Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo's plans go "first, I'm going to go to the super secret location to get a weapon that will help me in six months, and then in five weeks, I'm going to recruit an obscure powerhouse to be my spy for the operation I'll do next year..." whereas Han Yoojin's plans are more like "first, I'll get into some shit, and then, I'll figure it out."
It's kind of hard to explain the vibe difference because these characters are all defined by their cleverness, but I guess the best way to put it would be that Kim Dokja and Kim Roksoo seem more... exasperated? with the way they've been wronged in the past, whereas Han Yoojin seems more angry and spiteful about it. The first two mostly seem tired of dealing with the way their lives were going before and just want to be happy, but Han Yoojin gives off the feeling that he doesn't think he can find happiness without biting and clawing his way to it

hyj and yjh treating their younger sibling as a memory instead of their younger sibling
wow. evil things are still happening in my ask box.........
but also....... heh..............
yoohyun is forever overlayed with an image of his older self, cold and alone in the snowfield. he is growing up and he will get older than he could. he is growing in a different way to the way he did without yoojin. there is no longer just one han yoohyun, and never will be. remember him sleeping in yoohyun's room. the moment his fear resistance dropped, yoohyun's ghost resurfaced with such strength he could no longer keep it as hidden as he always did.
just like yoo joonghyuk is going forwards, leaving behind so many little sisters. he says what happened in previous regressions stays there, but can it really? he is still haunted by anna croft's betrayal, he hunted down those who wronged him in the past - haven't wronged him yet - will do that in the future. it's never locked behind the doors of a subway train. he is walking forwards with a line of yoo mias watching his back. he chooses to remember,,,,,,, does he mourn every yoo mia. does he see ghosts of her while she grows up. is he bitter about her growing and changing - and her never growing. staying the same. is the last yoo mia he knows going to grow up the same as the first yoo mia.
do they hold their siblings' warm hands and remember cold ones, loose fingers on theirs. do they.

never over the fact that han yoohyun remains also a victim of child neglect/abandonment/having adult responsibilities foisted upon him too young even as he grows up under yoojin’s care. it’s not yoojin’s fault, he did his best and he did good raising yoohyun but. you’re not supposed to be able to hurt your parent, you’re not supposed to learn how to manage your parent’s emotions/wellbeing/public image, you’re not supposed to have to fear for their physical safety and desperately try to figure out a way to protect them, you’re not supposed to be capable of real cruelty toward them, not supposed to be able to fuck up their life. but your parent is your brother who is only five years older than you, and suddenly the new and dangerous world demands you (you who are new and dangerous too) in its spotlight, and you are just a child and he was just a child. the world is so wholly unjust to both of them and i will never fault either for how their relationship was in shambles for three/eight years, even when han yoohyun makes his terrible decisions with terrible consequences, paving the road to hell. you’re not supposed to be able to hurt your parent like that. you’re not supposed to be a brother that he needs to rely on, just as much as you rely on him, both of you abandoned.
haven’t even mentioned yet how you’re not really human you don’t understand humans you try your best for your brother but you Don’t Get It, how and why society works and the full emotional harm its hatred can wreak. you might see it but you don’t get it like physical danger and there is so much of that latter danger in the world now. you might see him and keep tabs on him but you don’t get your brother, that he needs you like you need him because of the very fact that you need him and children realizing their parents are complete emotional beings is not something that should happen before you learn to stand on your own. and learning to stand on your own, paradoxically and inevitably, takes much longer when you are forced to grow up too fast. you are forced to mature too early and so you are immature in ways invisible. so many flavors of terrible responsibilities foisted upon them that no one should ever bear (raising a child while you are a child/the world is on fire and so are you/your parent also needs you to bear your shared emotional burden).
it’s so unfair. i’m bundling them both up in a blanket. han yoojin’s childhood was stolen away so he could give this simulacrum of a childhood to his brother but the world is terrible and yoojin is just a child too and it’s not possible it’s not his fault that the wonderful beautiful childhood he built is not, cannot be the bulwark in the face of brutal reality, that delicate childhood shaped by hands still so small too.

Hi you...I hope you have a wonderful day.If you don't mind my request..I want to ask Kim Dokja x sweetheart!reader..The reader is his lover since school (The reader who expressed her feelings for Kim Dokja first.).Before the destruction happened, the reader behaved like a wife to Kim Dokja because the reader knew Kim Dokja's past so the reader gave everything for Kim Dokja to know that he was always loved. (This man needs comfort..).. After the destruction happened, they separated from each other..(Kim Dokja is on the train while the Reader is everywhere.)..Kim Dokja is always worried about the condition of his lover..When they meet again, their meeting is full of romance and fluff after being separated for a long time ..(I bet Kim Dokja's group was the most surprised and the uproar because the Reader and Kim Dokja are very polar opposite.)..The constellation supporting the Reader is also extraordinary..Because the privacy attribute of the reader is also extraordinary..
Thanks for reading..I hope I didn't bother you..I love your work😍..Give you a lot of love💕💕💕..(Btw ,did you read The S-Classes That I Raised or not ??..I love Han Yoojin)..Take care of yourself..Bye dear author 🥰..
Omniscient Reader Viewpoint: Fool
Summary: In which Kim Dokja is a fool for you.
Or snippets between Kim Dokja and his wife in an apocalyptic world.
Pairing: Kim Dokja x F! Wife! Reader
Note: Thanks for your patience! I’m also currently reading The S-Classes That I Raised Manhwa, but not the novel! The holy trinity with Han Yoojin, Kim Dokja, and Cale Henituse are literally my favourite trio.
Warnings: Minor novel spoilers! Lots of kisses, fluffy, but also light angst, and implied sexual themes.
★・・・・・・★
Oh Baby, I Missed You
Where are you?
Kim Dokja watched what remained of Seoul while standing beside the protagonist of his novel.
Even after all those scenarios, how come he could not see you even once?
[The Constellation ‘Secretive Plotter’ is curious about what Incarnation ‘Kim Dokja’ is looking for]
As if on cue, Kim Dokja felt someone’s eyes on him. Spinning around with his hand on his sword, he matched the weariness of the sunfish beside him.
“Baby!” Hearing a familiar voice, Dokja freezes in disbelief until he hears two blades clashing with one another.
“Who are you?” Yoo Joonghyk growled at you, who defended well and jumped back. But instead of a blade, you had a long bo staff.
“Me? I’m Dokja’s wife.”
“WHAT?!” The door to the rooftop swung open with multiple heads popping through in shock.
“Is that true Dokja-ssi?” Yoo Sangrah asked, and when all of the attention was on him, Kim Dokja sheepishly nodded.
“WHAT???? So you and Master-” Jung Heewon immediately covered Lee Jihye's mouth and grinned.
“Nice to meet you er…”
“(L/N) (F/N). Been Dokja’s lover since a decade ago.” You smiled sweetly, before walking towards Dokja with open arms.
“I missed you baby.”
This time, Kim Dokja walked forward and hugged you tightly, and he felt embarrassed when everyone was watching him.
[The Constellation ‘Demon-Like Judge of Fire’ is wiping her tears]
[The Constellation ‘Demon-Like Judge of Fire’ did not know Incarnation ‘Kim Dokja’ was already taken]
[Many Constellations wishes for your happiness]
“Baby, can I kiss you?” Kim Dokja flushed at your innocent question, but looking over your shoulder, he saw the wiggling eyebrows and grinning expressions from his teammates. Despite knowing his team would tease him forever, he knew he couldn’t reject your request.
“I miss you too.”
Without another moment, you cup his cheeks and pull him in for not one, not two, but three quick kisses.
[The Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ jaw dropped]
There were surprised gasps and squeals, and a few hushes from Lee Heewon.
“No wonder he always looks like he’s looking for something…”
“This is not for children to see.”
“But hyung is-”
[The Constellation ‘Abyssal Black Flame Dragon’ gags]
[The Constellation ‘Secretive Plotters’ did not expect a romantic plot]
[The Constellation ‘Demon-Like Judge of Fire’ donates 1000 coins]
[The Constellation ‘Demon-Like Judge of Fire’ is squealing at the reunion kiss]
“You have a lot of constellations following you baby. As expected of you.” Kim Dokja, still a little breathless and dazed from the consecutive kisses, buries his face into your shoulder in embarrassment while you play with his hair.
He missed this.
He missed you.
“I didn’t know my constellation was following you too.” Kim Dokja perked up at your words in interest.
“Which one?”
[The Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ slowly looks away in disbelief]
“No way.” Maybe her long bo staff should have been an indicator.
[The Constellation ‘Demon-Like Judge of Fire’ looks at the Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ suspiciously]
[The Constellation ‘Secretive Plotter’ looks at the Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ suspiciously]
[The Constellation ‘Abyssal Black Flame Dragon’ looks at the Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ suspiciously]
You smiled innocently as if it wasn’t a big deal, and was just happy to see him.
[The Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ pats himself on the back and is proud he has good eyes]
So Don’t Go, Stay With Me
“Do you have to go?”
“Yea. I have to go find my family. I’ll be safe, and I know you’ll be safe since you have such reliable people around you.”
You cup his cheeks as you two stare into each other’s eyes lovingly.
“Message me if you need me, and I’ll come with my nimbus cloud at any time.”
Knowing that your constellation was the Monkey King, Kim Dokja knew you were capable and perhaps on the same level as the protagonist.
But…
“We can find them together.”
“Dokja, don’t you already made plans with the sunfish?” He balled his hands into fists.
“I want you to see the end of that novel you love so much. And I’ll come join you when I’m done. I promise.”
You tippy toe and then press a kiss to his forehead.
“Baby, trust me.”
Kim Dokja then kisses your cheeks, before you decide to skip the formalities to kiss him on the lips. It was all it took for Kim Dokja to let go, and interlace your hands.
Soft and sweet, Kim Dokja felt loved with how gentle you are with him. He doesn’t want you to go.
And he will miss you when you are gone.
Kiss Me Slowly, Show Me You Love Me
Kim Dokja knew you were the one when you jumped after him.
"Kim Dokja!"
When he saw you reach out for him as he fell from that rooftop in middle school.
When you proposed to him on one knee, and kissed his hands as you whisk him away from his miserable reality.
He knew you were the one, when you cried for him, and saved his life, again and again.
“Don’t touch him. Even if you are his mother and my mother-in-law, you have no right to kill him to prove a point.”
“Move.”
“Over my dead body.”
Kim Dokja could barely see you standing before his sleeping body, beside Han Sooyoung, protecting him from his mother.
[The Fourth Wall is shaking]
“You don’t know anything.”
“That’s fine with me. I trust Dokja more than you.” In the next moment, he felt a cloud form underneath him, followed by curses and gunshots being fired.
“It’s you! You’re the one who he loves the most! And you’re going to kill him!”
Feeling your calloused hands on top of his head, he saw many versions of you pop out.
Was it the duplication skill that the Monkey King had?
“I’ll break the prophecy because I will never hurt my baby.”
Kim Dokja smiled faintly, before he lost consciousness again.
Because Only You Can Kill Me
“Baby, you can’t do this.”
The world is silent for once. The channel was off and both of you paid the price for such privacy.
“It’s the only way.”
“Kim Dokja.” He flinches when you call his full name, you never do.
“I have to. It’s the only way that the story will move on.”
“There has to be another way.” You purse your lips and rub your temples.
“There has to be a way.”
Kim Dokja held your hand solemnly.
“There is no other way-”
“Shut up!” You shook off his hand in anger.
He knows you know that this was the easiest way.
“I’m not letting you sacrifice yourself!”
That’s why you’re angry.
He hugs you from behind.
“You’re an idiot for even thinking that, there has to be another way!” You break out of his hold and stare at him straight in the eye.
“If only I had more power-” Kim Dokja grabbed your hand and placed it on his heart.
“(Y/N), I only trust you. You know that right?” Kim Dokja smiles.
“You’re the only one who can kill me. No one else can.” He felt your hand tremble as you took a shaky breath.
“So please…kill me.”
So the story can go on.
“Don’t look at me like that baby.” You say after short deliberation.
Finally, with a subtle nod, you conceded with tears rolling down your cheeks.
Then, without further ado, Kim Dokja pulls you in desperately, and both of you were surprised when he was the first to initiate the kiss.
But when the two of you are so intimate and so close to one another, knowing that the future is uncertain, neither of you want to let go.
Please, Make Me Your Everything
Kim Dokja feels so desperate in this apocalyptic world.
He’s planning and looking so far ahead using his knowledge of the novel, and sometimes, he feels like an outlier.
Perhaps he is.
Just like he always has.
But when he’s in your arms as you plant kisses from his collarbone and trails to his neck, he feels at the center of the world, your world.
Slowly, he feels you kiss his jawline before going closer and closer to his lips, and feels impatient with how slow you are. Every single kiss tingles on his skin, making him remember every precious moment he had with you.
He will never admit it, but he’s frightened for the future. Not about his death (because he will come back, he has a backup for that), but during his absence.
You are strong and responsible enough to lead the team, but he was afraid that you were going to take on the burden alone.
When he finally feels your lips on his, he pulls you closer, treasuring every second of you just like how you make him feel alive everyday.
“Baby. What’s wrong?” Your fingers gently wipe his tear away as you hold him, and when he feels your tears drop on him, he couldn’t help himself.
“I’m sorry. I just…”
“Shh, you don’t have to explain yourself to me. I trust you.” Kissing him on his nose gave him butterflies, but even so, he couldn’t get rid of this bitterness in his heart.
“I love you. I love you. I love you so much.” Dokja repeated the same words until his voice croaked and his lips became dry.
All the while you ruffled his hair and massaged his scalp, and responded to each of his confessions with affirmation.
“We’re gonna be okay, and you’re gonna be okay. I’ll wait for you Baby.”
That night, Kim Dokja cried himself to sleep in your arms, and for the first time in a long time, he felt warm, secure, and well-rested.
So when he feels his own sword pierce through his heart painlessly by the one who he swore his eternity to, he feels just as safe and happy.
You catches him as he falls, as you cry silently and reminds him to come back soon.
“Don’t forget me, please.”
How could he? When you’re the one who chose to move forward with the story, when you’re the one who will face his team after their reckless plan?
He was already greedy and selfish, wanting you to never forget him and wait for him, however long that may be.
Kim Dokja is a fool.
An idiot that only makes you cry.
With a strained smile, he nods before noticing the notification above.
[Incarnation ‘Kim Dokja’ will be killed by the person he loves the most]
When he wakes up, he promises that he will never sacrifice himself again.
But the story must go on.

Holy Trinity and the flags I assigned them (for fun)
Some spoilers for SCTIR though.
Cale Henituse: red flag 🚩
Reasons: red is his iconic color; red hair, reddish-brown eyes, red blood that he coughs when he says he's fine, red flag to his enemies but the best greenest flag to his families and allies ❤️
Kim Dokja: death flag 🏴 💀
Reasons: i would rather call it the D- flag for these Dokja's associations: depression, death and (craving for YJH's) dick but death flag is more of his calling. he dooms himself. He is a tragedy in the making.
It could have been a rainbow flag but it was buried deep underneath and because gay sex alone could not save Dokja, rest in pieces you wonderful, suicidal squid 🦑 😈
Han Yoojin: rainbow flag 🏳️‍🌈
Reasons: his favorite color is hot pink, like sweet food but insists he isn't, saying he only views a certain Mr. Sung as useful skill but wanting and successful changing their dynamics from skill-item to business partners (then to child-raising partner). They have role-play prince and princess.
Act like a jealous girlfriend when that same man ghosting him and decides to give his partner a countdown until he blows up his place (and he follows through with the threat). Has a son with his partner that he carries for months near his heart. Canonically wears rose-pattern veil to hide his face and corset when going undercover.
Dumping wine over each other's head. Lighting each other's cigarette through a burning rose.
Crashing Hyunjae's (forced) wedding with another woman.
Wearing cheongsam.
Laying on bed with both Hyunjae and Taewon while wondering what terms to write for his will.
Yoojin cannot keep his eyes away from Taewon's chest. Many men are obsessed with Yoojin, his brother included. A Japanese S rank hunter even convinced Yoojin is his mother reincarnated.
He also says Hyunjae is his type directly to the man's face.
Yoojin promises to go on an aquarium date with Hyunjae and will buy ice cream for him (geunseo-nim please im begging you let them go on that date please 🙏)

Sung Hyunjae from other POVs
Spoiler warning for Ch. 481
I was reading the Chloe pov and it's so interesting to see how Sung Hyunjae is perceived by other hunters. Like Chloe is terrified of him and from her POV he is seen as a monster and we actually get to see how Sung Hyunjae normally treats hunters. He's cold and indifferent and treats Chloe like a mere ant. But I think this reaffirms that he genuinely likes Han yoojin bc he changes as soon as he's mentioned:
"Han Yoojin, it was fun." Sung Hyunjae's eyes curved into a much softer expression. He smiled, genuinely, with a sparkle in his eyes, like a boy enjoying himself. Chloe couldn't hide her shock as she gasped. She had never imagined the head of the Sesung Guild could make such an expression."
LIKE HAN YOOJIN MAKES HIM HUMAN. IM SCREAMING. Also i think it's so funny how all these hunters are terrified of him and bc we are reading from yoojin pov we don't really get to see the monster side of him. Like he's manipulative, yes. But we don't really see him ever be really indifferent towards yoojin bc he actually cares about him. Also bc yoojin honestly treats sung hyunjae like shit sometimes, ( not that he doesn't deserve it) I just think it'd be so funny to see other hunters react to HJYJ interactions bc i genuinely think theyd have an aneurysm.

Hello..how are you?.Well,I don't mind what you want to do anywhere. Headcanon or detailing fic. I got that thought make me wonder until I eat. I imagine this Cale Henituse/Han Yoojin already got the start of his own strong allies so (Y/ N) felt that she was a burden so or she thought they didn't need her anymore that's why she disappeared without telling them..That's more or less my imagination..I'm sorry for rambling(ꏿ﹏ꏿ;)..
Take care of yourself, writer.. Make sure to drink a lot of water.. Goodluck for study or work(。・ω・。)ノ♡
Hiii thank youu!!
When i read your request it was more like this in my mind
Our dear reader who didn't realise that her bf/hubby was a yandere, went out in secrate since its his birthday was coming up. Her timing was wrong and no one noticed she left. When he realises she isn't in her room, he searches the whole building/mansion. He doesn't have much stamina so you can imagine how tired he must have been after running from room to room hoping you would be there. He started panicking and called all his subordinates, practically ordered them to find you. His right hand man finds you in a male accessory shop looking for something. He zooms their pretending to just stop by. He finds it so cute when you blush and stutter trying to make excuses since his gift was supposed to be a secrate, but all in vain when the shop keeper brings out the custom order you had placed months ago and only went to collect it. It was a thin neckless, with a small openable? locket with a picture/ painting of you two (painting which u made by hand) also adorned with gems complimenting both of your eye colour . And he is over the moon. He escorts you back with him and then picks you up, takes you to the bedroom for a long night. He keeps whispering 'you are the best gift' while thrusting hard and fast. He tell you he want to wear it now while fucking you so you could see how good it looks on him.
Lets just say you both liked the result of you sneaking out.
Ps. He fucked you harder on his birthday while wearing the neckless. You found out you were pregnant like a month later......
And i'll make headcanons since i really liked your idea!
Masterlist

The chains tightened around my neck, pulling me forward. I was forcefully lifted and met Sung Hyunjae’s gaze. “Speak.” “…Do you know how annoying you are? Always acting like you’re the best in the world.” “I wouldn’t say I'm the only one, but it’s true that I’m quite exceptional, isn’t it?” His casual admission made me let out a hollow laugh. I felt a curse about to slip out. “I must’ve been crazy to worry about you.” “But, Han Yoojin-gun…” A gloved hand reached toward me. It sifted through my hair, moving down to search around my ear. He was undoubtedly looking for Grace. “You must still feel sorry for me, even now.” “Well, Sung Hyunjae-ssi also got caught up in this, didn’t you? No matter how great you are, it’s still a fact. You were kidnapped, robbed…” His hand touched my neck, which was wrapped in chains. Unable to find Grace, he snapped the interpreter item and broke it. “Why did you do that?!” “You could hide it by pretending it’s another item.” …Wow, aren’t you clever. With just his fingertip, he pressed the button on my shirt collar and pop, ripped it off. “Or maybe it could be disguised as not an item at all.” “Wow, great idea. Why not just block my nose and mouth too?” “I like hearing Han Yoojin-gun's voice.” Damn it. “So, the explanation?” “Go to hell.” “There was a time when Han Yoojin-gun threatened to undress me, wasn’t there?” For a moment, I was speechless. What? Crazy? When did I ever? […] “What in the…” I was about to shout “What nonsense is that?” when I suddenly remembered. Could it be… the yarn? The time I threatened to unravel it? “You have no shame!” “My small and cute pink conscience has already been sent away.” Another button was ripped off, and the chains shifted, spinning my body around. […] “I like not only Han Yoojin’s voice but his face as well.” [...] Part of Sung Hyunjae’s glove melted, as if it were being burned away. Yet, he did not let go of the chain. Instead, he reached out toward me. It looked as though black eyes were reflected in his golden pupils. And I was smiling too. The chain pulled, and the tangled sword was drawn in, lifting my body. Sung Hyunjae’s hand grasped my neck. My hand seized his wrist. [...] I could feel Sung Hyunjae’s mana beneath my palm. Then, the power within my arm surged toward his. His golden eyes trembled for a moment. I was clearly smiling. It felt as though both our arms, containing the same mana, were merging, and in that moment, we were completely fused together.

'S-Classes That I Raised' Translation - Chapter 851: Save Me
I will note that this is one of the most emotional chapters of the novel, and is much more impactful when you have the full context of the story. If you don't like spoilers for that reason, you should probably skip reading this.
Chapter translation under the cut.
---
Chapter 851: Save Me
Sung Hyunje.
Two words were written clearly on each palm.
Sesung Guildmaster.
Together with the words on both hands, his fading memories resurfaced. In his mind, a clear, bright voice spoke as if chiding him:
"Sung. Hyun. Je. Now, repeat after me. I am Sung Hyunje. I am the Sesung Guildmaster. I will repay my debt to Han Yoojin tenfold. I will not leave a single crust of bread uneaten—"
"That, I don't like," Sung Hyunje muttered aloud.
He could feel the dampness of the wet earth against his skin. With every breath, the sickening stench of blood seeped deeply into his lungs.
His head was intact. Below that, he gradually became aware of his body, both arms, both wrists, and the two hands connected to them. He tried moving his fingers slightly. Both legs were also properly attached.
After being shattered, broken and torn apart countless times, he had begun to question whether his limbs had originally been attached at all. Wasn't it normal not to have them in the first place? His original form became obscured in the mist, and a single fragment became the self. Was the current self the real him, or was it the past self, or even a self from a more distant past that even he didn't know? Could one truly be certain that their present self was the real them if they couldn't recall their beginning?
Sung Hyunje clenched and unclenched his hands. They were clean except for a few smears of blood. But he could still remember the tickling sensation of the pen writing along his skin.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster.
The erased past, the hazy present, and the fragmenting future didn't matter. Those four words defined him. Another memory surfaced.
The aquarium.
He had kept two memories for himself. One of his identity and one of his purpose. His name written on his palm and the promise to go to the aquarium. Even if everything else about him was erased, as long as those two things remained clear, he was confident he could rise and walk without wavering.
His golden eyes slowly closed and opened. It was a simple goal, just a promise to go somewhere together for fun. It was the kind of promise that could have easily been written off or forgotten. And yet, that was precisely why it had been engraved even more deeply. Deliberately keeping such an ordinary and lighthearted promise meant that the other person was that special. Someone who could turn even the ordinary into something extraordinary.
His limp arms bent and pressed against the earth. Blood seeped from the soil between his fingers. Sung Hyunje rose to his feet.
It was night here, and yet there was no night. The bright light of the moon had chased away the darkness and bathed everything in silver. Only a few faint patches of shadow lingered, drifting to and fro between the swaying auroras of pale moonlight.
The moon rose at night, but could this place truly be called that? With a sky so silver that nightbirds closed their eyes, and daybirds couldn't sleep.
Sung Hyunje looked up at the moonlight. Within that cascading celestial glow, the Crescent Moon gazed down at him, like a god watching over her creation. It wasn't far from the truth.
"It's clear that I won't be able to escape this place with my own power."
Golden light flickered around Sung Hyunje. He had already surpassed S-rank. In his hands, he held a portion of his accumulated power and the Gardener's mana stone, refined using the Caregiver's title. One step further and he could have reached the level of a Transcendent, though he still fell short of the level of the Crescent Moon. The layers of contracts that bound him also held him back.
"But… you will not get what you want either."
Jingle, jingle— The tinkling of bells echoed.
Feeling a shiver run down his spine, Sung Hyunje lifted the corners of his mouth.
The small moon now had enough power to reach its fullness. With the Gardener's mana stone as the final drop, the vessel had been filled. Yet, Sung Hyunje had not lost himself. The Perfect Caregiver. The power held by that title was preventing him from transforming into something he didn't want to be.
By the skin of his teeth, barely, precariously, struggling to hold on. Yet refusing to give up.
The Crescent Moon didn't move. She simply hung there. But the moonlight quivered. Clink, clink, clink— Silvery chains poured down from all directions.
Clang, clang!
Golden light flared to meet the moonlight. Hundreds of chains burst forth, but were struck down by an even greater number, crashing down in waves of gold. Under the overwhelming difference in power, the light fractured, shattering into countless pieces. The moonlight became stained with blood as it sliced through his limbs like blades.
Without even a scream, Sung Hyunje was torn apart. Painted red once more across the red soil. The metallic tinkling of bells subsided. The moonlight resumed its quiet flow. The scattered fragments began to reassemble Sung Hyunje's body again.
The power of the pseudo-Origin, wielding the force of creation, restored 'Sung Hyunje' to his original form. Recreated perfectly, from his body, to his clothes, to even his shoes. It was proof that he hadn't lost himself.
After inhaling and releasing a long, labored breath, Sung Hyunje lay there on his back, staring up at the sky.
"You've failed again," he said.
The Crescent Moon, who had reclaimed Sung Hyunje, understood his condition. Despite having gathered everything it needed, the small moon had failed to be reborn as a full moon.
Ordinarily, 'Sung Hyunje' would have disappeared naturally under the weight of such immense power. But Han Yoojin's memories continued to awaken 'Sung Hyunje'. Erasing memories alone wasn't enough to erase 'Sung Hyunje'. And the Cradle that sought to claim the Caregiver had been blocked by the Young Chaos.
The only remaining options were to break 'Sung Hyunje' or erase his memories and start anew.
Jingle─
The moonlight trembled.
His body had been shattered to pieces countless times. When the body broke, the mind was inevitably affected. Yet, Sung Hyunje endured. He was still the Sesung Guildmaster, and he still had a promise to go to the aquarium with Han Yoojin. If he bought him ice cream, Han Yoojin would accept it while pretending that he didn't want it.
"The Cradle will disappear as well."
Sung Hyunje stood, slightly unsteady. His intact legs felt momentarily unfamiliar.
"The Elder will handle it somehow, I'm sure."
The Newbie would end up helping Han Yoojin too. The world Sung Hyunje would return to would be safe. His golden eyes curved gently as he smiled. The Crescent Moon's expression remained unchanged as she looked down at him. Her detached demeanor was like the impassive face of the moon hanging in the sky.
"Your plans have gone awry, haven't they?"
— 'I wanted to perfect you while keeping you as intact as possible.'
Unlike her unchanging face, her voice carried a clear affection. And that made it feel eerily incongruent, like a doll playing a recorded message.
Clink!
A beam of moonlight shot forward at a speed that even combat foresight couldn't anticipate, piercing Sung Hyunje's shoulder. He grabbed the moonlight, which had solidified into a chain, and tore it away.
— 'I hoped you would stay unbroken until the moment of your completion.'
More beams of moonlight shot at him. A few silver chains exploded amidst the burst of electricity, but there remained too many to fend off. Sung Hyunje's body was flung to the ground like a ragdoll, his arm broken, his ankle twisted at an unnatural angle.
"Hrgk—!"
A choked breath reflexively escaped him as the chains coiled around his neck. They yanked him around violently like a toy, careful not to kill him. No matter how many times he severed them, the moonlight was infinite. His one remaining intact leg was torn apart, and his broken ankle was ripped clean off.
Crack—His vision went black. The lifeless body of 'Sung Hyunje' was restored to its original form again. His golden eyes blinked open beneath the strands of his disheveled hair.
— 'My child, in the new world, you will not Awaken.'
Sung Hyunje's legs, barely supporting him, were pierced by chains. His knees buckled, and he collapsed to the ground.
— 'You will be unable to convey your will, neither through voice nor written words. And yet, there will be countless who desire you, and that itself will become your torment.'
Powerless and mute, yet a coveted existence. Such a thing would ultimately be treated as an object. Some would cherish him, while others would enact unspeakable cruelty upon him. Even those who cherished him would not cherish him as an equal.
— 'You will wander, unable to establish anything of your own, until you give up on yourself, or the power that sustains you fades.'
It would be different from before. Someone who had always risen to the highest place would now have to crawl at the lowest. Even if his innate excellence made him rise again, the moment he clawed himself out of the muck, he would be dragged off to a new place again.
Sung Hyunje would have no opportunity to refine the power he had accumulated. He would have neither time nor freedom to find a way to escape from the Crescent Moon. He would be muzzled, collared, and trampled helplessly underfoot.
Instead of using his impaled legs, Sung Hyunje spread his wings. But before he could rise far, the moonlight tore them apart. His body plummeted, and was shredded to pieces by the silver chains before it hit the ground. He rose, ran, and flew countless times, yet his end was always the ground.
Sung Hyunje opened his eyes once more. His limp arm and open palm came into view. Sesung Guildmaster. Sung Hyunje.
"A promise I can't keep…"
How long would Han Yoojin live? Sung Hyunje was confident he could endure, but he couldn't guarantee Han Yoojin's remaining time. Even if Han Yoojin grew old to the point Sung Hyunje could no longer recognize him, that would be alright. Even if their world had changed completely, it wouldn't matter. Even if the aquarium was a dried-up, empty lot with not a drop of water, just going there together would be enough. Even if there wasn't a single minnow, they could remember, imagine and talk about the biggest whale shark.
Sung Hyunje stood once again, his golden eyes wet. The welling tears fell silently down his face. What he felt wasn't desperation or hopelessness. It was simply…
— 'Such sadness.'
"How could I not be sad? I loved those times."
Every single moment of living in his world. Of Sung Hyunje's life. Even if Han Yoojin's time ran out, Sung Hyunje still had death left to him. His faithful death would surely come and deliver him the final gift of closure.
So he felt neither anxious nor afraid. What he felt was purely sadness.
Song Taewon would recount for him everything that had happened. There would probably be time to share a drink or two. But nothing more than that would be possible for him.
"I want to live in my world."
Just a little longer. Greedily. Like a child who still had so many things he wanted to do, yearning for more time. He didn't want to let go of all the moments yet to come.
"I want to celebrate every birthday, and even death, in that world."
His own birthdays, but also the birthdays of others. He hadn't properly celebrated Han Yoojin's birthday even once. Maybe Song Taewon's upcoming birthday would be a little different than before. Perhaps Sung Hyunje would send off everyone else first, including the two of them, and be left alone again. But this time, he hoped to remember it all and long for it once it was gone.
Even being a gravekeeper would be a joy in that world.
"While remembering who I am…"
Moonlight poured down like rain, veiling his tears. His blurred vision became stained with red. Though he knew full well he couldn't win, golden light surged forth. Electricity crackled fiercely until his last breath. Over and over, again and again.
Yet, slowly, his memories began to dissolve under the relentless violence. Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. He struggled to connect these words, to recall their meaning. The aquarium. The massive glass tank where fish swam. He couldn't remember that place.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium.
Someone took his hand and moved a pen across his skin. They were in an unfamiliar place. Light pierced through his heart, his head. The memories he had barely pieced together were suddenly severed and cut short.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium.
The fragmented words drifted through his mind. He couldn't even remember how to breathe, but he realized that 'Sung Hyunje' was his name. Fish swam in the clear water. Bubbles rose to the surface. A vast space, a high ceiling. Moonlight streamed down from the sky.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium.
In his empty palm, he saw the illusion of letters appearing. He had made a promise to go to the aquarium. But he couldn't remember what an aquarium was. His body felt as heavy as if it were sinking into the water. His body, struggling to rise, broke apart again. It dissolved like grains of sand flowing between his fingers.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium.
The Sesung Guildmaster, named Sung Hyunje, extended his hand. The moonlit sky filled his vision. Had the sky always looked like that? Soon, his hand would be severed. He would inevitably be shattered into fragments, as if it were only the natural way of the world.
He didn't even feel the need to resist or fight. He simply stared at his hand.
Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium.
And then, a string of pink yarn.
"…Yarn."
At some point, the string of pink yarn had descended. Or perhaps it extended out from him. The Crescent Moon lifted her head. The string of yarn stretched out endlessly. Instinctively, Sung Hyunje grabbed it.
'Happy birthday.'
With the sound of that voice, a memory flowed into him. Bundles of yarn tumbled from above. A golden dragon streaked across the bright blue sky, and hot pink yarn rained down around him.
'Hold out your hand.'
He already had. A pair of knitting needles appeared faintly in his mind.
'Though I wasn't invited, I'll leave you a gift. Take care to prevent dementia, and live a very long life.'
All the buried memories came rushing back. Sung Hyunje. Sesung Guildmaster. The aquarium. The pink yarn. Han Yoojin. Song Taewon. His guild, and his world. Like fireworks, the memories lit up his mind, sparkling brightly. Sung Hyunje rose to his feet.
The golden electricity that had vanished flared to life around him once more. And then—
Crack— the sky split open. At the end of the fluttering string of yarn, golden wings spread wide.
"I've come to save you, Princess!" Han Yoojin shouted.
Sung Hyunje laughed with pure joy.
Footnotes:
1. "털실" is "fur (usually wool) thread", and refers to wool spun into threads, or what we call "yarn" in English. The term for a single "thread" is also the same 실 as in 털실. In this chapter, the text just says "pink 털실" appeared. In Korean, "운명의 붉은 실 (red thread of fate)" has an analogous grammatical construction: "red 실" (red thread) vs "pink 털실" (pink wool thread), making the symbolism easier to see grammatically. In English, the phrase "red string of fate" is awkward to mirror since "pink string of yarn" sounds odd, so I went with "string of pink yarn".
2. The second line of this chapter says "three characters" in the novel because that's how Sung Hyunje's name is written in Korean (성현제). I thought "two words" was easier to understand and worked better with "Sesung Guildmaster" in English. In Korean, "Sesung Guildmaster" is actually 5 characters (세성 길드장).

Recently I’ve been thinking about the different types of love languages in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, The S-Classes That I Raised, and Lout of the Count’s Family…
Not to say that each of the stories describes only one single kind of love language; they are, after all, all novels that focus on Found Family, with many different types of relationships between characters that express their love for each other in as many different ways.
Yet, I’ve noticed how at the core of each of these three stories there is one specific act of love that recurs more than others, and that becomes the true Theme each novel revolves around.
In Lout of the Count’s Family, the main love language is providing food and a home.
“Home” is such an important concept in LCF that Cale collects houses like they were pokemon cards. The source of his trauma when he was a child as Kim Roksu was that he was not given sufficient food, and that where he lived was not truly a shelter where he could feel safe, just a place he was trapped in.
And I don’t think there are ever more than 2 chapters in a row without a character offering food to others, or asking if they’re hungry, if they’ve eaten, why haven’t you eaten, here have some apple pie!!
Cale uses his newfound money and power to make sure his loved ones are provided for. That’s how he adopts bonds with most of his new family.
The first thing Raon does after he’s freed from the prison he’s been trapped in all his life, is to leave food for this hopelessly weak human.
Choi Han, who has lived alone in a dangerous forest for decades, would do anything to protect his home.
The Crown Prince, who has been isolated and untrusting of everyone ever since his mother died, makes sure to always have cookies in his bedroom in case guests “break in” for a visit at any time of the day or the night.
I love you, you’ll never be hungry again. I love you, my home is your home.
In The S-Classes That I Raised, the main love language is words.
Yoojin’s powers are literally activated by telling people “I love you”. Because all he ever wanted was to say “I love you” to his brother one last time.
Because the tragedy that starts the story happens because Yoohyun loved and protected his hyung in secret for years. Silence creates misunderstandings, it creates distance, it leads to loss.
Loving someone isn’t enough, tell them! Reassure them. Remember what they say, because their words are important!!
Ever since the regression, Yoojin always let people know when he loves them and appreciates them. “You’re perfect, you’re cute, you’re so talented, you’re so handsome, you are loved.”
And as the novel progresses, whenever Yoojin is in pain, or doesn’t know what to do, he turns to Sung Hyunje because he needs to be reassured, he needs to know he did well, he needs to hear he is still important to the people he loves.
I love you, please know that I love you! I love you, please tell me you love me back.
And finally, in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, the main love language is time.
Time is one of the greatest sources of horrors in ORV. Eternities upon eternities of suffering, being trapped for ages in the same, hopeless loop, wishing for everything to just stop.
And yet, time is also the greatest gift characters give to each other.
Because the wounds Dokja suffered as a child, and then again and again through his whole life…. They need time to heal. They need so much time. They will probably take forever.
So let them take forever.
Despite how much pain and worry he causes his companions by giving up on himself over and over again, his companions never give up on him. And he doesn’t understand why!! He doesn’t think he’s worth it. But it’s not his choice, it’s theirs. And they will go through as many tries, as much pain, as much time as it takes, before they can finally save him.
I love you, so I will wait fifty years for you. I love you, so I will live through thousands of lifetimes to find you. I love you, so I will read and reread your story for the rest of time, just to keep you alive.
